I had a buddy drive the VC van down with the XG750 race bike and all the gear. I flew down Friday night. First time I have ever been to LA or the West Coast. Had to change hotels though – the first one was sketchy. Saturday’s Hooligan flat track race was insane. It was a very tight oval track on grass. YEP! GRASS! Most of us were not too excited at first but after feeling how challenging it was and watching the carnage, it ended up being an awesome course.
I drew first session of hot laps and of course was the first one to wreck. Turn 3 and I was down, bike wouldn’t start and my hot laps were done faster than they started.
Race #1 I actually had a little patience during the first two laps and managed to make my way to 3rd place…until turn 3 wiped me out again. This time I bent my bars and broke my switch housing clean off. My day was done. I wasn’t TOO unhappy ’cause the 111 degree heat was unbearable. I didn’t stick around for the show. I bailed to the air conditioned hotel.
Thank you LOST HIGHWAY SHOW and ROLAND SANDS DESIGN for another great Super Hooligan Race!
